Let the "watch list" season continue. Nebraska senior cornerback Chris Jones was named to the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Watch list Friday. The Thorpe Award is given to the nation's top defensive back.
Jones totaled 37 tackles, three interceptions and ten pass breakups, earning honorable-mention All-Big Ten honors. He also had three games with at least five tackles.
As a sophomore, Jones moved into the starting lineup and totaled 25 tackles in his seven starts. Jones sealed Nebraska's eight-point win over UCLA in the Foster Farms Bowl that season with an interception.
The Thorpe Award Winner is selected from three finalists and will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, December 7, 2017, on ESPN. Jones will look to become Nebraska’s first Thorpe Award winner.
