Mike Riley opened his weekly Monday press conference by addressing a long list of injuries facing the Huskers heading into Friday's game against Illinois.

Riley said that linebacker Marcus Newby and safety Joshua Kalu will not play Friday. He said that safety Aaron Williams actually injured himself on the targeting play which he was ejected for against Rutgers, but said that he will play this week.

Tanner Lee after win against Rutgers: "We got behind the offensive line and they wanted to take over."

Running back Tre Bryant, linebacker Tyrin Ferguson, right tackle David Knevel, center Cole Conrad, and wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. are all questionable heading into Illinois.

Riley said right tackle Matt Farniok might be able to "do some stuff" this week, but is wearing a cast on his wrist.

Senior cornerback Chris Jones has missed every game this season after sustaining a knee injury earlier in the season. Riley said that he will not re-evaluate his status until Jones reaches a point in his recovery where it's possible he will be cleared, and said that has not happened yet.
