LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) - As we continue to look ahead to the 2018 Nebraska football season, next up on our Indispensable 18 is wide receiver J.D. Spielman. After redshirting during the 2016 season, Spielman burst on to the scene for the Huskers a year ago.
In 2017, Spielman set NU freshman records in many receiving categories, including receptions (55), receiving yards (830), 100-yard receiving games (2), and all-purpose yards (1,572). Spielman also holds the Nebraska single-game receiving yards record thanks to his 200-yard performance against Ohio State last season.
All of these accolades earned the Minnesota native Freshman All-America honors for the 2017 campaign. The speedy wideout also was named Third Team All-Big Ten by the coaches last year.
Now as the 2018 season approaches, Husker Nation can expect Spielman to shine once again in Scott Frost's fast-paced offense.
