Three Nebraska football players were honored as members of the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 football team. With their selection, the three defensive players advance to the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team.
Sophomore defensive tackle and Mick Stoltenberg and senior defensive tackle Logan Rath were both honored for the first time, while junior linebacker Chris Weber was selected for the second consecutive year.
Weber is a six-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. The linebacker holds a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average in nutrition science. On the field, Weber has eight tackles so far this season after a 49-tackle season in 2015.
Stoltenberg has a 3.45 cumulative grade-point average in management. The sophomore defensive tackle has 16 tackles including three tackles for loss.
Rath is a six-time member of the Nebraska Scholar Athlete Honor Roll and has a 3.65 grade-point average in agricultural economics. The senior from Giltner, Nebraska has been a key special teams performer for the Huskers.
Nebraska leads the nation in Academic All-Americans across all sports with 325, 111 of which are football honorees. The Huskers have had 73 first-team Academic All-Americans in school history. The 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America team for Division I football will be announced Dec. 1.
