Tim Miles and his staff have landed their first recruit for the 2017-18 season. Nana Akenten has signed his letter of intent and will play basketball for the Huskers next season.

The 6-foot-6 guard is considered one of the top prospects out of the state of Illinois. Akenten averaged 14 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals-per-game, leading Bolingbrook High School to the Class 4A regional championship.

“We are thrilled to have a young man like Nana join our program,” Miles said. “He brings so many attributes that will help our team - on and off the court. He is a great kid with a strong support group around him in his mother Margaret and his coaches Quintin Garrison and Rob Brost, who run an excellent program at Bolingbrook High."

Akenten chose Nebraska over a number of other schools, including SMU, UNLV and Colorado State.
