University of Nebraska Omaha's Austin Orega and Luc Snuggerud named NCHC offensive and defensive players of the week.

Orega tied for the team scoring lead at Miami, earning four points in Omaha's first sweep of the season. During During Friday's 6-4 win Ortega had an assist and team-best +3. On Saturday, he had two goals and an assist in the Mavericks 6-2 win. Due to his performance Ortega moved into a tie for second in NCHC scoring with 15 points this season and he is also tied for second in the conference with nine goals. With points in six straight games (6-5-11) Ortega has set a new team season high.  

Snuggerud tied for the team scoring lead at Miami with two goals and two assists for four points. During Friday's contest he had the primary assist on the game-winning goal; he finished the night +1 and had a blocked shot. On Saturday Snuggerud scored two goals, including the game winner, and had another assist. His second goal of the game on Saturday gave him a new career high for goals in season (5) and is now tied for fourth in NCHC defenseman scoring with nine points. 

The Omaha Hockey team hosts No. 2 Minnesota Duluth Friday and Saturday for its second NCHC series of the season. Both games will being at 7:07 p.m. at Baxter Arena.
