The 2017 Nebraska Match Play Championship was a battle between two college golfers, Kearney's Jay Cottam faced off against former Husker Justin Jennings.
Cottam trailed Jennings by one heading into the final nine holes, but started to turn things around with a nice birdie on 12 to square it up. Then, Cottam started to pour on the birdies with one on 13, followed by another on 15 to take a two up lead.
Cottam lost the lead down the stretch pushing the match to extra holes. On the 37th hole, Cottam didn't buckle under pressure and stuck it close to end the match with a conceded birdie.
Cottam becomes the 50th Nebraska Match Play Champion.
