The Elkhorn girls' basketball team took down defending state champ South Sioux City, 67-60, to win its first title since 1985. The Antlers' Brooke Carlson scored 25 points and grabbed ten rebounds in the victory.

With seconds until the halftime buzzer South Sioux City's Marybeth Rasmussen knocked down a three-pointer to give the Cardinals a 33-26 lead as they headed into the locker room.

After two quarters, Antlers' Brooke Carlson led the team with 12 points going 6-6 in field goals. Cardinals McKenna Sims led South Sioux City with 10 points while teammate Kyra Fischer and Rasmussen closely followed with eight each.
Antlers' Carlson continued to lead the team throughout the third quarter, tying up the game 40-40 midway through the quarter. She headed into the fourth quarter leading the team with 22 points.
The game was tied 48-48 entering the fourth quarter but the Antlers quickly took control of the last quarter. With just 3:20 to play Elkhorn held an eight point lead over the defending champs. The Cardinals didn't give up coming within five points of the Antlers but they couldn't stop Elkhorn.
