No. 1 Millard South fought past No. 4 Lincoln East to advance to return to state championships. The Patriots beat the Spartans 64-48 in the Class A semifinals.
Millard South trailed Lincoln East 19-15 at the end of the first quarter, keeping it close throughout the second quarter. The Spartans held a three point lead at halftime of the semifinal matchup. A basket from Patriots' Maddie Krull in the third quarter gave Millard South its first lead since the first quarter. Spartans' Charley Bovaird hit a three-pointer to tie up the game 48-48 with under five minutes to play. The Patriots sealed Friday's victory with a 17-0 run to finish with a 64-48 win over the Spartans.
Millard South's Maddie Krull led the Patriots to the state finals with 30 points.
No. 1 Millard South will take on the winner of No. 2 Omaha Westside vs. No. 6 Lincoln Southwest in the Class A championship game. The finals will be played at Pinnacle Bank Arena Saturday, March 2nd at 6:30 p.m.
