The OSI's: Female Athlete of the Year

Monday May 28, 2018 - OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) Another high school sports season is in the books and what a year it was with plenty of heart-pounding moments across the Metro.

With your help over the next couple weeks, the Omaha Sports Insider team will recognize some of the great student-athletes, teams & coaches in something we are calling 'The OSI's'.

Our first category is Female Athlete of the Year:

-QUINN WEIDEMANN (OMAHA WESTSIDE)

The Wyoming signee was the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018 helping the Warriors to their 2nd state title in four years. Weidemann averaged 20 points per game & broke Westside's (and her own) single-season scoring record for the 2nd year in a row.

-COURTNEY WALLACE (PAPILLION-LA VISTA)

Wallace went 18-1 in the circle last season and had a 0.28 ERA. The future Husker also had an impressive .504 batting average hitting nine home runs and 35 RBI helping the Monarchs to their first state softball title since 2010.

ALSO VOTE: Male Athlete of the Year

-SAMANTHA MANNIX (ELKHORN SOUTH)

Mannix became just the 4th girl in Nebraska history to win four straight #1 singles tennis titles. The Iowa recruit capped off her high school career with a perfect 114-0 record without ever dropping a set.

-SKYLAR HEINRICH (ELKHORN)

Heinrich scored an amazing 102 goals in just three seasons of high school soccer. Her final two scores helped the Antlers win their first state title in ten years. The Creighton recruit is graduating high school early to begin her college career.
