OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The phones have been ringing more than usual at Blooms floral shop.

"We send flowers for happy moments, celebrating moments, sympathy — they make people happy,” said owner Brandy Schreiner.

She adds that people can use a boost of happiness now more than ever.

She's happy to create a little joy for whoever needs it.

Each of her bouquets are made with care and creativity.

"I love it. It's my passion. It's a joy that I get. I mean, it's my art and I’m actually getting to do that every day," said Schreiner.

Schreiner, along with her daughter, has run her Rockbrook Village flower shop for three years.

Since the pandemic, orders are up.

“It's affected us in kind of a good way. Like, over the holidays — a lot of people weren't able to be together so they were able to send flowers as a way to connect,” said Schreiner.

Her entire store is about connecting and calm. It's filled with greenery and gift ideas.

“We carry the Thymes which is a pretty popular fragrance line. I have a local person that I carry her jewelry, which is really cool and eclectic. She has a neat style and it's very natural, earthy,” said Schreiner.

After a busy holiday season, she's gearing up for Valentine's Day.

“It's always the calm before the storm right now where you do everything you can to prep, and then you sit and wait for the day to come and hope for the best. Hope for, not a blizzard,” said Schreiner.

Schreiner does have a message for anyone who's planning to send flowers this Valentine's Day: now is the time to order.

“If you have something in mind, it's best to order as early as you can but we take orders all the way through the day. We're pretty used to it,” said Schreiner. “There's always that one guy or somebody that comes in at the very last, end of the day, and sometimes it depends on what we have left. They might get a nice surprise.”

Whether it's a special occasion or just any occasion, Schreiner says you can always count on flowers to deliver just the right message.
