OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A sick 5-year-old Omaha boy is recovering after spending several weeks at the hospital thanks to the support of special people supporting him.

Leevi Johnson, a patient at the hospital, is recovering from his fourth heart surgery at Children's Hospital and Medical Center. He loves police officers and as we've learned this week, they love him right back.

For the past week, Omaha Police Department and other local first responders have visits Leevi at the hospital.

The visits from first responders started with his uncle making a call to OPD and informing officers about Leevi's adoration for law enforcement.

"The call got transferred over to me. And of course, within moments notice, it was a no brainer what we had to do," said Lt. Amy Oetter with OPD. "We kind of started an email that went out to the whole department. Officers around the clock have been texting me and emailing me and when can we go see him? Can we get him anything? Does he want anything?"

The department has gifted Leevi several items. He's been visited by dozens of officers in the last week, including Omaha Fire and Police chiefs.

"They brighten his day every day when he sees them. When they leave, he's wondering when the next one is coming," said Leevi's mom, Amber Johnson.

"His mom mentioned he doesn't have any siblings but he's got 900 brothers and sisters now. whether he wants us all- he's got us. As far as I'm concerned, I'll always know Leevi, and I hope I get to see him well into his adulthood and strong and wearing a police uniform at some point time. We'd sure love that," said Oetter.

To commemorate the new friendship with OPD, Leevi's family set up a Christmas tree showered in OPD badges.
