LINCOLN (KMTV) — Nebraska head coach Scott Frost voiced his respect for current Purdue & former Huskers defensive coordinator Bob Diaco on Thursday.
"He's an established defensive coach," said Frost. "He's had good success. I think he's a good coach."
The two have gone against each other once as head coaches back in 2016 when Frost led UCF to a 24-16 win over Diaco's UCONN Huskies.
Diaco led the Blackshirts for just one year back in 2017 before being replaced by Frost's DC Erik Chinander. This is Diaco's first season as the Boilermakers' defensive coordinator.
"They're sound," Frost said of Diaco's defenses. "They typically don't give up a lot of big plays, make it hard on you to run it. He knows what he's doing."
Kickoff Saturday in West Lafayette is set for 11 a.m. on BTN.
