LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Less than a week after Nebraska fired John Butler, the Huskers reportedly have their new defensive coordinator in San Diego State's Rob Aurich.
Aurich's Aztec defense ranks 5th in the country in scoring defense allowing 12.6 points per game.
Their run defense is ranked 21st in the country allowing just 110 yards per game on the ground.
San Diego State's 3rd down defense is tied for 12th nationally at 30.8%.
Under Aurich's leadership, the Aztecs are currently tied for 1st nationally with Ohio State in red zone defense allowing scores only 66.7% of the time.
SDSU is 7th in the country in total defense, allowing an average of 267 yards per game.
The Aztecs also rank 5th nationally in opponents points per play & are tied for 6th in yards per play allowed at 4.1.
