Alex Gordon agrees to 4-year Royals deal

Posted

The Kansas City Royals announced on Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with Alex Gordon.

The three-time All-Star outfielder signed a four-year contract with mutual option for the 2020 season.

The Royals made the announcement after Jeffrey Flanagan, who covers the team as the beat writer for MLB.com, reported the deal.

In November, Gordon turned down his player option with the Royals for the 2016 season, making him a free agent, according to an official release from the Royals.

The Royals is the only team that the 31-year-old has played for. He was selected second overall in the 2005 MLB draft.

The nine-year Major League veteran hit .271 in 2015 with 18 doubles, 13 homers and 48 RBI in 104 games, despite missing seven weeks due to a groin injury.
