OMAHA (KMTV) — The Nebraska football team lost at Northwestern on Saturday, 21-13, to fall to 0-2 on the season.

The Big Red offense was inconsistent all day long & Luke McCaffrey didn't have his first touch until the 3rd quarter when he replaced Adrian Martinez at quarterback. Martinez was just 12-27 passing for 125 yards and an interception.

"It begins with me," Nebraska head coach Scott Frost said afterwards. "We didn't play a disciplined enough game. To come away with 13 points is inexcusable and that's my fault.

Wan'Dale Robinson had just four touches for 32 yards. Nebraska also committed nine penalties with many of them on the offensive line, which was without starting center Cam Jurgens. NU was just 4 of 16 on 3rd down against the Wildcats.

"A loss like this can either split a team or bring it together," said senior DiCaprio Bootle. "It's definitely heartbreaking for sure."

The Huskers made it into Northwestern territory on their first drive but a pair of penalties forced the Big Red to punt.

The Wildcats scored first on a 41 yard touchdown run by Drake Anderson to make it 7-0 Northwestern.

Nebraska got on the board early in the 2nd quarter with a 38 yard field goal from Connor Culp to make it 7-3 Wildcats.

After Myles Farmer picked off a Northwestern pass, Culp hit a 36 yard field goal to make it a one point game at 7-6 Wildcats.

The Huskers finally took their first lead of the day with a three yard touchdown run by Dedrick Mills, which was set up by an interception from Myles Farmer. The Big Red took a 13-7 advantage heading into halftime.

Northwestern retook the lead in the 3rd quarter with a two yard touchdown pass from Peyton Ramsey to John Raine to make it 14-13 Wildcats.

The Huskers had a chance to get back on top late in the 3rd quarter but Adrian Martinez threw an interception .

Northwestern upped its lead to 21-13 after Ramsey hit Riley Rees for a 10 yard touchdown pass.

After Luke McCaffrey replaced Adrian Martinez late in the 3rd quarter, Nebraska drove the ball all the way down to the Wildcats two yard line but then McCaffrey throw in an interception about halfway through the 4th quarter.
