Warmth Doesn't Last All Week

We've endured a cold spring so far in Omaha, especially the last couple of weeks! Monday, April 9th, was the 10th afternoon in a row with below average temperatures at Eppley Airfield. There's a chance we could make that 11 in a row on Tuesday.

The two coldest days compared to average were April 2nd and April 8th. Both highs were 25 degrees below average!

So when's the last time we were more than just a degree or two above average? That has been a while! It's been 19 days (since March 22nd) since we were more than 5 degrees above average in an afternoon.

Luckily, we hae a really nice warm up on the way! The sunshine returns Tuesday and our winds will start to blow in warmer air from the south. This will put us close to our average high of 62. Wednesday through Friday, we will enjoy above-average afternoon warmth with highs in the 70s!!

The last time Omaha saw 3 days in a row at or above 60 degrees was back in November. The streak started on Thanksgiving... more than 4 months ago!

Sadly, this is spring, so this warm weather won't last forever. Winter fights back going into the weekend, dropping us back below average... and that colder weather may hang around for a while.

The Climate Prediction Center's 6-10 day forecast has most of the region with a high chance of seeing below average temperatures. Bundle up... summer will get here eventually!
