OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A second Disaster Resource Center (DRC) is set to open in Council Bluffs on Monday, serving as a distribution center for those in need after flooding.
The Council Bluffs location joins the already-operating DRC located in Omaha near 84th and Center. The centers serve those in need, providing flood-relief items and accepting donations.
The following items are needed at the DRC:
*N-95 dust masks
* Scoop shovels
* Floor squeegees
* Long rubber gloves
* Wader boots
* Spray bottles
* Laundry soap
* Personal hygiene items (deodorant, bath soap, toothpaste, etc.)
* Box fans
* Bleach
* Disinfectant
* Paper towels
* 5-gallon buckets
* Work gloves
* Scrub brushes
* Cleaning rags
* Large, heavy-duty garbage bags
* First-aid kits
*School supplies
* New, unwrapped bedding
* New towels and washcloths
* New baby supplies
* Snack items
* Paper plates, forks/knives/spoons/cups/napkins
Along with Corps staff, a caseworker will be on-site at the Council Bluffs DRC to assist with intake and ensure people's needs are met. As individuals arrive, they will meet briefly with the caseworker, complete an intake form, and will then be led through part of the building where flood-relief items are located and organized to be easily picked up.
Those needing flood-relief items will need to bring a photo ID.
The Council Bluffs DRC’s hours will be as follows:
- Mondays and Thursdays: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Saturdays: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Sundays: closed
