NEBRASKA

NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONAL SERVICES

  • Four more staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus. Three staff members are employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). The fourth staff member is employed at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women. All four individuals are self-isolating at home.
  • Notification will be provided to those who live and work in those facilities as to the positive cases. In addition, anyone who may have had close contact with the staff member will be directed to self-quarantine until cleared by a medical provider.
  • This brings the total number of NDCS staff members diagnosed with COVID-19 to 166. One hundred and sixteen of those individuals have recovered from COVID-19.

LINCOLN-LANCASTER

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) announced that three residents have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in Lancaster County to 30. The individuals included a man in his 70s who was hospitalized, a man in his 60s who was at a long-term care facility and a man in his 50s who was hospitalized with no underlying health conditions. Seventy-one lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lancaster County today, bringing the community total to 7,075.

DOUGLAS COUNTY

  • The Douglas County Health Department (DCHD) reported 176 new cases of COVID-19 that were received by midnight the previous day. This makes 17,447 total cases in Douglas County since the outbreak began in March.
  • The Health Department received one new death certificate during the past day related to COVID-19. A man over 70 sadly has passed. The number of deaths connected to the pandemic now is 198.
  • DCHD has confirmed 13,163 county residents have recovered from the illness.
  • As of this morning, metro area hospitals had 169 medical and surgical beds available for an 88% occupancy rate with 25 Intensive Care Unit (ICIU) beds available for an 93% occupancy rate. There were 129 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 and 39 more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results). Fifteen individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.

University of Nebraska Medical Center Locations Across Five Counties

  • 169 Med/Surg Beds were available out of 1,402 staffed beds. (These are "non-ICU level nursing care" beds, not surge beds.)
    • 88% occupancy rate
    • 25 Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds were available out of 341 staffed beds. (93% occupancy rate)
    • 7 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) beds were available out of 33 staffed beds. (79% occupancy rate)
    • 129 total inpatients diagnosed with COVID-19
    • 39 COVID-19 PUIs
    • 144 of the 460 ventilators in hospitals are in use. 15 ventilators are being used for hospitalized patients either suspected or confirmed
