A mother continues to turn her family's heartbreak into her life's mission.

Lisa Seemann's son Aspen tragically drowned in a Waterloo lake in June 2016.

In the following months, the Seemann's used their story to advocate for water safety training by partnering with Omaha Fire and Rescue through a joint program, the Aspen and Alley Project, while also creating a foundation in their son's name.

The Aspen Drake Seemann Foundation plans to further honor the memory of the young boy by providing additional life-saving information to families. It will host the inaugural fundraiser Seersucker and Sombreros De Mayo at Champions Run on Friday.

Proceeds will go towards funding a day of teaching young children how to swim, the Aspen and Alley Project and other safety related training.
