Area students to show off trade skills at Metro campuses

More than 200 area high school and Metro students set to show off trade skills at various locations for the inaugural Metro Omaha Trades Invitational.

The event will take place Saturday, February 2 from 8 a.m.-noon and will determine which students will move on to other competitions in the state.

An awards ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology on the Fort Campus.

The competitions will take place at the following locations:

- Firefighting and construction trades will be held at the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology and the Construction Education Center, Fort Omaha Campus, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway

- Manufacturing competitions will be held at the Industrial Training Center, South Omaha Campus, 2909 Edward Babe Gomez Ave.

- Automotive competitions will be held at the Applied Technology Center, 10407 State St., and the Mahoney building, South Omaha Campus, 2909 Edward Babe Gomez Ave.

- Audio and visual competitions will be hosted by the Omaha Career Center, 1502 Cuming St.
