OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The former Omaha Police officer facing an assault charge in the death of Zachary BearHeels is not testifying.
Friday morning, Scotty Payne's defense team rested its case.
Prosecutors say Payne used a tazer 12 times on BearHeels. Body camera footage also showed another officer, Ryan McClarty, punching BearHeels.
If Payne is convicted of second-degree assault he faces up to 3 years in prison.
