Monday night, Nebraska Democrats called for the resignation of state auditor Charlie Janssen after a World-Herald investigation revealed he spent up to three hours at a sports bar during business hours without returning to his office on a regular basis.
Janssen himself admitted Nebraskans deserve better, but Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb said that's not enough.
"Janssen, in particular, is supposed to be looking for waste, fraud and abuse," she said. "And in fact, he's now the poster child for waste, fraud and abuse. He needs to resign, he is not doing the job, we are paying him to sit in a bar."
Meanwhile, Gov. Ricketts told our partners at the Omaha World-Herald that he rejects the calls for Janssen's resignation.
