Disturbing data: Deaths on NE roadways up in a number of ways

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) says there have been more than twice as many deaths on Nebraska roadways when comparing August of this year to August of 2018...and we still have four days to go. 2019 is also the deadliest year when compared to the previous five years.

According to the DOT, 11 people died on Nebraska roadways during August of last year. This year, 27 have already died.

The total number of deaths on Nebraska roadways has already surpassed last year's total, and the past-five-year average as well. In 2018, 138 people died due to traffic-related incidents. This year, 160 died.

This year has also been reported as the deadliest year when compared to previous five years individually.
