Dodge County Sheriff Steve Hespen said Scott told officials he had walked from Omaha to Council Bluffs.

“From the information we have been able to gather since the time he left Nebraska Furniture Mart, he was on foot the entire time until his capture in council bluffs,” Hespen said.

When asked if Scott had any help Hespen said they are not 100% sure, “We are still looking into that avenue but at this point we don't have any leads on that.”

Surveillance video from Nebraska Furniture Mart determined that Scott walked away, there were reports that Scott had left in a blue Camaro, but Hespen said that was not the case.

“The blue Camaro was there, he came in and parked right next to it and then he was out of the vehicle,” he said.

Scott was wearing new clothes and had a duffel bag when he was arrested; Hespen said he told officials he was able to find those from cars while walking.

It is still unclear where Scott was traveling.

“It appears that it was something that was not planned,” Hespen said.

Scott was in Pottawattamie County court on Friday, he was charged with possession of a firearm and theft. Charges from Saunders and Dodge County are pending the investigation finishing.
