Omaha police release names of those injured in Thursday's incident on Kennedy Freeway

Omaha Police have released the name of the officer and suspect involved in today's incident on the Kennedy Freeway. 

Omaha Police say 49-year-old David Staskiewicz who is a 19-year veteran on the police department suffered a non-gun related injury. He has been treated and released from the hospital. 

The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Micah Taylor. He suffered a gunshot wound to the neck. His injuries are non-life threatening, and he is currently in stable condition. He will be held at the Nebraska Medical Center pending charges and will remain under police hospital guard. 

According to OPD, officers with the gang unit were conducting an investigation at 2:30 p.m. An officer tried to stop him on Highway 75 near Lake Street. During the stop, police say a struggle ensued with the driver and shots were fired. The suspect eventually crashed in the area of Highway 75 and L street. The investigation led officers to shutdown Highway 75, also known as the Kennedy Freeway, during rush hour.
