Hot weather and a lineup change for a popular concert isn’t deterring people from snagging great seats at Memorial Park Friday morning.

The Celebrates America concert starts at 6 p.m. but people arrived 13 hours early to lay down blankets, running in the dark with flashlights to find the perfect spot.

For Omaha native and longtime concert-goer, Laverne Threan said he doesn't mind BOSTYX filing in for Survivor after the band couldn't play Friday night.

“I think it will be great,” he told 3 News Now. “I think it will be awesome. Free concert in the park is always awesome.”

More than 60,000 people are expected at the park.

The U.S. Air Force Heartland of American Band will perform the the national anthem followed by Omaha-based The Confidentials, BOSTYX and Starship. The fireworks show starts at 10 p.m.

"It's going to be a hot day so we definitely want people to stay hydrated, wear comfortable shoes so that they can walk and MUD is actually providing a watering station so people can stay hydrated there and we want to make sure people drink water out there because it will be hot," said Dustin West from Metro Credit Union.

This year, Metro Credit Union is the main sponsor after Bank of the West did so for several years.
