OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Thousands will gather in Memorial Park on Friday for the City of Omaha Celebrates America Concert and Fireworks show. Some early birds will stake out their spots in the early morning hours and lay out blankets.
Public Works says starting at 5 a.m. on the day of the concert, streets north of the park will be one-way northbound and parking will only be allowed on the east side of the streets. This will include area from Underwood Avenue north to Western Avenue, and from 66th Street east to Happy Hollow Boulevard. It also includes the area from Happy Hollow east to 52nd and from Underwood south to Farnam.
Following the fireworks at roughly 10:15 p.m., a portion of Underwood will be shut down to allow pedestrian traffic to move out of the park.
This year's concert will feature national acts including Chris Isaak and Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul. Local cover band The Firm will also perform. The music will start at 6 p.m. followed by fireworks around 10 p.m.
