Bellevue police investigating alleged assault in Freeman Park

Bellevue Police said Monday they are investigating a video showing an alleged assault of an unidentified teen widely shared on social media.

The video shows four people, assaulting one teen who was sitting on a park bench at Freeman Park, right next to Bellevue East High School. 

In the video, the four people are seen punching and kicking the teen - at one point, someone jumps on him as he's on the ground. 

BPD said in a press release Monday morning that officers had been notified about the incident at about 6:30 a.m., and that they were actively investigating the attack, which they believe occurred three to four weeks ago.

"Some individuals involved in this crime have been identified, and officers continue to work to identify everyone involved," the release states, also noting that it wasn't yet known whether those involved are juveniles or adults.

Based on initial information gathered early in the investigation, BPD investigators believed the victim was hurt in the incident but did not seek medical attention, the release states. 

BPD says those responsible will be held accountable. 

Bellevue Public Schools is cooperating with the on this investigation, the release states.
