A pawn shop at South 132nd was broken into over the weekend and the thieves made off with thousands of dollars of rifles, handguns and ammunition.

Omaha police say three men burglarized Good Guys Gun and Pawn shop early Saturday after literally breaking through the dry wall dividing the pawn shop and 108 Cleaners next door.

Police say the suspects entered the next door business - 108 cleaners - through a back door.

The men then got to work and cut holes through the dry wall separating the pawn shop and cleaners - carving out space big enough for the men to fit through.

OPD reports another burglary at Good Guys Gun and Pawn on August 25th with the thieves stealing firearms through a hole cut in the wall of 108 Cleaners.

"Unfortunately, burglaries from gun stores are going up. While we've been fortunate in Omaha to not experience the spike necessary, nationwide burglaries from gun stores in the last year are up some were in the neighborhood of 120 percent," said John Ham, Public Information Officer with the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.)"

While the owner of Good Guys Gun and Pawn didn't want to go on camera - he did say they plan to beef up security with reinforced steel to keep would-be burglars from hitting again. The shop is outfitted with cameras and alarms.

Now, the search is on for these three suspects with a hefty reward on the table for information leading to their arrest.

"From years of experience, they don't sit on the stolen goods for very long because there's a market for stolen goods there's a market for guns that have no paper trail on them," said Ham.

The ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation for a total possible reward of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
