Two Husker football players arrested on drug charges in Florida

Nebraska wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. was arrested May 6 in Port Orange, Florida for possession of marijuana, according to a police report obtained by 3 News Now. 

According to the report, Morgan Jr. was found in possession of 21.4 grams of marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop. 

While Morgan was originally charged with felony drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, court documents show that the drug charge was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor, and the drug paraphernalia charge was dropped. 

"I could smell an odor of fresh cannabis as soon as I got behind the vehicle, and it only grew stronger as I approached it," the officer that arrested Morgan said.

The officer said he found a "clear plastic bag containing presumed cannavis in a gray backpack located in the backseat, behind Morgan's seat."

The Husker wide receiver told the officer that the marijuana was his and that he purchased it for $100 while in Florida on vacation. 

Huskers safety Antonio Reed was also in the car and was arrested for possession of cannabis . Morgan's was transported to Volsuia County Jail and bond was set at $3,000. Morgan and Reed are not in custody.
