Deaths & cases continue to rise at LCC Elkhorn

ELKHORN, NE — The number of deaths and positive cases of COVID-19 at the Life Care Center of Elkhorn continues to rise.

A report sent out from the facility Thursday morning listed one more death and 6 more positive cases among residents and staff.
That brings the total number of deaths to 6 and the current number of positive cases to 84, including 57 residents and 27 staff members.

The 3 News Now Investigators reported earlier this month that the facility has faced several serious violation notices in 2018 and 2019, paying more than $60,000 in fines.
And earlier this week, our investigative team talked to someone who provided us photosshe says she took showing a lack of proper use of PPE inside the facility.

Below are the latest figures and a statement from the facility:

Overnight, we had one more resident pass away who was positive for COVID-19, bringing our number of deaths related to COVID-19 to six. We mourn the loss of our residents. Our No.1 focus is the health and well-being of our residents and the safety of our staff. We continue to follow all guidelines from both federal and state health authorities. Our staff have been vigilant to practice all necessary procedures of infection control. We are doing everything we can to provide the best care for residents and to safeguard our staff. We are grateful for the ongoing help and support of both the state and the county, as well as the Elkhorn community.
