The Omaha City Council next month will consider millions of dollars in tax increment financing, or TIF, for development projects.

Among them, $7.5 million for the restoration of the historic Blackstone Hotel; and $3 million to redevelop — and repurpose — the now-closed Grace University.

The work at the hotel located near 36th and Farnam streets would create 204 upscale hotel rooms as well as a grand ballroom, restaurant, pool, and fitness center. It is expected to be completed in 2020.

The Grace University plans call for turning the administration building and dorms into an apartment complex on 9th Street, near Little Italy.

The public hearing on the TIF projects on Sept. 11.
