Sarpy Co. Sheriff's Office release amnesty day results

SARPY COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) — The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office held its second amnesty day event Saturday where authorities collected unsafe, non-functioning or improperly stored guns, ammunition and fireworks for safe disposal.

The event was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the south parking lot of the sheriff's office in Papillion.

Both the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office and the Omaha Police Department participated in the four hour event.

Thirty rifles, 30 pistols, 23 shotguns and 23 airguns were dropped off, along with 841 lbs of ammunition and 324 lbs of fireworks.
