18-year-old charged with motor vehicle homicide in relation to fatal crash

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — An 18-year-old is being charged with motor vehicle homicide after allegedly causing a crash that killed one woman.

According to Omaha Police, Jayden Johnson was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse near Curtis Ave. and N. 42nd St. on Sunday night when he allegedly ran a stop sign. Johnson was allegedly speeding when he collided with a 2012 Buick Enclave that was in the intersection.

Brittni McBride, the driver of the Buick, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene when medics arrived.

Johnson suffered injuries to his leg and hand. A 17-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries to her face.

Johnson was booked at Douglas County Corrections for one count of Motor Vehicle Homicide: Reckless/Willfull Reckless Driving after being released from the hospital on Tuesday.
