It's not just the mayor's office that’s up for grabs in Omaha, city council seats are in play today as well.  Every district is up for grabs except for District 5, where councilman Rich Pahls runs unopposed.

Franklin Thompson's retirement means a new city council member in West Omaha's District Six, where Brinker Harding faces Dwite Pedersen.

Four city council members face challenges in district one. Grant Sturek is taking on councilman Pete Festersen while incumbent Ben Gray faces challenger Dennis Womack in North Omaha's District Two.

Over in District Three, Councilman Chris Jerram is running against D'shawn Cunningham while in District Four an open seat is left by Gary Gernandt's retirement.  The two most likely candidates to replace him are former Nebraska Democratic Party Executive Director Jim Rogers and current Omaha Public Schools board member Vinny Palermo.

We will have up to the minute election results when the polls close at 8 p.m.
