MeanStreetsOma, an anonymous Twitter user who has grown popular while tweeting Omaha's police activity, posted audio of officers responding to the traffic issue at 90th and Dodge on Tuesday.
At about 10:30 a.m., an officer radioed in the request:
"Can you get ahold of streets? I'm sure there are numerous requests, but westbound on Dodge Street, approaching 90th Street, I got numerous cars stuck."
Police continue to talk about the need for snow plows in the area.
KMTV Action 3 News arrived at the intersection for a live report in the Midday newscast, which was also streamed on KMTV.com.
Our cameras were rolling when snow plows arrived and started work in the eastbound lanes of Dodge Street around 1 p.m.
Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert questioned the decision to close the section of road. But the Omaha Police Officers Association president, John Wells said the officer on the scene took the best course of action.
