CBPD: One person injured in hit-and-run crash

UPDATE: Council Bluffs Police have identified the bicyclist injured as 57-year-old Melvin Brown of Council Bluffs.

Council Bluffs Police officials say a man is injured after he was involved in a hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning.

At around 4:00 am, Council Bluffs Police and Fire and Rescue crews responded to the area of 13th and 6th Ave. for a man lying on the curb with a bicycle.

Per authorities, their preliminary scene investigation found evidence consistent with the bicycle being struck from behind by a vehicle while it was traveling south.

The man was transported to CHI Creighton Medical Center with head trauma.

Officials say the man’s identity is unknown.

CBPD officials describe the victim as a black male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, thin build.

He was riding a red, black and silver mountain bike carrying a Star Wars backpack.

Police are looking for the driver involved in the crash.
