Omaha officials say a fleet of 110 city plows and an additional 175 plowing contractors will be working during the storm to keep streets clear,
Because of the forecast, however, city crews are not able to pretreat roads.
Late tonight, rain is expected to push into the area. As temperatures fall, the rain will change to snow early Thursday morning.
Austin Rowser with Omaha Public Works says plows will be out as soon as snow or ice begins to accumulate.
School districts in the area began announcing closures Wednesday afternoon, including Omaha, Bellevue, Millard, Council Bluffs and Elkhorn.
