OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha native comedian Amber Ruffin, a graduate of Benson High, will return home to set her new sitcom in her hometown, according to our partners at the Omaha World-Herald.
Hollywood Entertainment website Deadline reports that NBC has ordered a pilot for "Village Gazette," in which Ruffin will star as Amber, editor of the Benson Village Gazette. Amber is partial to the features that highlight the goodness of her hometown, but when the newspaper owners hire a reporter who's looking to uncover a juicy story in Benson, he threatens to unravel the happy denial Amber has been living in.
Right now it's unclear where in the country the town of Benson will be located, or how much it will reflect Ruffin's hometown. Ruffin could not be reached for comment.
