The Council Bluffs Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation have launched a joint investigation into an officer involved shooting that took place at a Eddy's gas station.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Council Bluffs officer was responding to a call in to the parking lot and fired his weapon while trying to take the driver of a suspicious vehicle in custody.
After he was shot, the driver of the vehicle flipped his car as he sped out of the lot. He then fled on foot, but was quickly taken into a custody.
The injured driver was transported to the hospital for treatment. The names of the driver and the officer who fired the weapon have not been released. The driver is in stable condition, but remains in the hospital, according to a release received Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday morning.
