Council Bluffs city leaders unveiled plans to beautify a stretch of West Broadway Monday morning.
The city plans to re-work everything from the street lights to the drainage system on West Broadway from 15th Street to 36th Street. On May 1st., the Iowa Department of Transportation will hand over that stretch of road to the city, and give the city $20 million for road maintenance and improvements. Mayor Matt Walsh says "the reason we wanted to get on the front end of it since 1950 that road hadn't been rebuilt and that road doesn't have storm sewers. So we felt it was important from an economical stand point to improve the road and improve the look of the road."
The public will have a chance to give their input and view project renderings Tuesday night from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson High School. The city says it's currently in the planning phase, but hopes construction will begin later this year,
