A prayer vigil was held Thursday night in honor of the three victims killed in Tuesday night’s homicide.

70-year-old John Dalton, 65-year-old Jean Dalton, and 18-year-old Leonna Dalton-Phillip were killed near 37th and Spaulding after police say John Dalton Junior shot them.

Dozens gathered for the vigil and were all in support of the Dalton family.

Jean Dalton's sister, Midge McDaniel, says they were all devastated by the news Tuesday night and she had just left the house 90 minutes before the shooting.

“Jean and I were laughing and talking about the old days and I told Jackie you have been in the family longer than I have,” she said.

Jackie was John Dalton, who was the glue to the family alongside his childhood sweetheart.

18-year-old Leonna was a senior at Burke High School and had high ambitions in life, friends and family shared her spirit for life and giving during the vigil.

“She always made time for other people and helped them,” said boyfriend Evan Nguyen. “She wanted to get out of Omaha to live her dream.”

Omaha Public Schools has a memorial fund set up for Leonna.

There is also a GoFundMe for the Dalton family.
