Deadly Lincoln shooting under investigation

Posted

Lincoln Police are investigating the city’s second deadly shooting so far this year.

Investigators say 25-year-old Joshua Hartwig was shot and killed early Sunday morning near 20th and Knox streets.

Police say Hartwig was found dead after someone fired shots at a group of people standing outside the building there around 1:30 a.m.

About 30 minutes before the shooting, police say a man and a woman were heard fighting, but it was broken up by bystanders and the man left.

Hartwig was not believed to have been involved in that disturbance, police said.

“Interviews are continuing with persons who may have information about this case,” the Lincoln Police Department said in a statement Sunday.

They say no suspects are in custody.

This is the second deadly shooting in Lincoln this year. Earlier this month, police arrested Matthew Pavey, 24, for the murder of 27-year-old James Carr.
