Private First Class Michael Heller died in combat in 1970 during the Vietnam War. The Nebraska chapter of the group Honor and Remember presented Heller's siblings with a memorial flag Wednesday night.

At the American Legion Post 331 Wednesday night, Michael Heller's brother and sister received a honor and remember flag to honor his sacrifice. The Dunlap, Iowa native died just before his 20th birthday.

The Honor and Remember Nebraska Chapter presents memorial flags to families of soldiers killed in combat. Bill Heller served overseas like his brother but in Germany.

"This is really something, we appreciate it," Bill Heller said. "You just can't imagine what it feels like to go through something like this and accept this stuff."

Jim Meier, director of Honor and Remember Nebraska chapter says it's his organizations part to honor fallen soldiers.

"We don't have our freedoms unless there have been people who have served and sacrificed," Meier said. "To lose a family especially young like Mike Heller, it's just the right thing to do."

Heller's medals, including his Purple Heart, were also on display for friends and family to see.
