Despite opening in the middle of the week, boaters, kayakers and paddle boarders came out in droves for Flanagan Lake.
Walkers and joggers could also be seen taking advantage of a 5-mile loop around the lake.
The reservoir officially opened Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with a news conference.
Flanagan Lake serves as a reservoir in the Papio Creek Watershed, providing flood protection in th area. The $47 million project is the largest flood control structure for the Papio NRD.
The City of Omaha will manage the park.
The lake has been stocked with large mouth bass, along with a variety of other fish. There was a line of anglers and other boaters at the lake’s launch site.
