A 19-year-old Fort Calhoun man died Friday after losing control and crashing his vehicle while running from authorities, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened on County Road 943 in Washington County. Authorities say Jackson Potadle was pulled over for speeding. When investigators went to search the vehicle, they say Potadle took off, driving very fast.

Potadle lost control of his vehicle around a curve in the 4600 block of County Road P43, driving into the ditch and hitting a tree.

Authorities say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nebraska State Patrol investigated the incident.

No further information is expected to be released until Monday.
