LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Today, Governor Pete Ricketts submitted a written testimony opposing the largest tax increase in state history. The Revenue Committee has scheduled a hearing on the tax increase proposal for Wednesday.
"LB 289, as amended by AM 1381, constitutes the largest tax increase in Nebraska's history, stripping away $224 million of direct property tax relief for Nebraska families as well as raising hundreds of millions of dollars of new sales taxes on working families for half a billion in new spending," the Governor said in his testimony.
Ricketts adds that the Legislature must break big government's spending addiction and the endless cycle of taxing and spending.
