Monday morning, Harlem Globetrotter Orlando “El Gato” Melendez isn’t practicing on the court, he’s dribbling with children in the early intervention program at Munroe-Meyer institute.
As part of the Globetrotters Smile Patrol, the player is spending the time visiting kids who can not make it to their exhibition game.
Melendez, a father himself, says today visit has a special part in his heart as he had a daughter born premature in the hospital.
“Every kid deserves a chance for a high quality of life,” he said.
The Harlem Globetrotters will play at the Century Link Center in Omaha on Friday, April 6th.
