HDR submits proposal for downtown Omaha HQ

Posted

Omahans are getting their first look at plans for a new downtown high-rise building that will serve as the headquarters for HDR, Inc.

The architecture and engineering firm submitted its proposal for its global headquarters at 11th and Dodge streets to the Omaha Planning Board.

“We chose downtown Omaha for our new global headquarters because it will better meet the long term needs of our employees, clients and business partners. We’re excited about helping grow the downtown urban core, which will create energy and excitement for more visitors to Omaha, and this will create jobs and growth of our city,” HDR Chairman and CEO George Little said in a prepared statement Monday.

HDR hopes to have the building ready by December 2018 so they can move from their current location at 8400 Indian Hills Drive before the lease expires the following year.

The 290,000-square-foot building will have 16 levels, including a basement and the roof, according to HDR.

The Planning Board will consider the proposal on Feb. 3.
